You will be involved in the design process for STATCOM converters
and other electronics converters, starting from idea generation
through simulation, circuit design, and prototyping all the way to
verification.Your responsibilities:
- As a project engineer for power quality solutions, you will
conduct thorough and structured work with a high technical interest
and strive for good solutions within set time limits.
- You will be responsible for STATCOM (SVG) related project
engineering execution, assisting with tendering, and supporting
site commissioning.
- You will take responsibility for the specification, selection,
qualification, and verification of converters, passive components,
and protection concepts.
- Build up and maintain measurement and test setups to verify
performance, efficiency, and robustness.
- Specify and calculate main component parameters of the power
quality system equipment, establishing equipment requirement
specifications for sub-suppliers based on input from system design
studies.
- Verify supplier technical documents and equipment testing
requirements.
- Conduct insulation coordination studies and specify the design
basis of the main components for the STATCOM system.
- Perform short-circuit current studies for different fault
locations for the STATCOM system and develop the protection
coordination report.
- Specify the STATCOM Control Strategy and Operation Modes for
specified projects, establishing the station main circuit single
line diagram and protection block diagrams.
- Develop the acceptance performance test procedure as per
contract requirements and guide the commissioning team to conduct
acceptance performance testing.
- As a STATCOM design engineer, take the lead engineer role on
low to medium complexity STATCOM projects, efficiently cooperating
with every cross-functional interface to ensure mutual
understanding of needs.

- Bachelor's degree or above in a relevant area of Engineering in
Power System and Power Electronics.
- Minimum 5 to 10 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience with power system simulation tools such as PSSE,
EMTDC/PSCAD, and calculations in MATLAB / Mathcad.
- Good knowledge about the application of Power Electronics on
STATCOM (SVG) / Power Quality Solution projects and familiarity
with Power Systems equipment such as Power Transformers,
Capacitors, Reactors, Instrument Transformers, Circuit Breakers,
Disconnectors, Surge Arresters, Valves & Cooling.
- Knowledge in selection, sizing, and integration of above
equipment based on customer functional specifications.
- Preferably knowledge of GB/IEC/IEEE standards and relay
configuration.
- Knowledge of Low Voltage switchgear selection, configuration,
and circuit breaker selective coordination.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and fluent
